October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Mammography can be done in polyclinics and they are upon appointment basis.
Breast Cancer is the MOST COMMON cancer among ladies. It can happen to men too. Statistically, more than 3 women are diagnose with breast cancer everyday. This might happen to anyone of us. Even me or you. Get your mammography done today for early detection. Ladies, don't have the mentality that "Oh, This won't happen to me." You might not knows that it could save your life if you get an early detection.
Some one close to me went for a mammography earlier September and reports came back found out there are some "changes" in her breast. This is a bad as we don't know what kind of changes is that? So she was referred to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for further checkout. The doctor done x-ray and ultrasound on her breast and found out that there is some "calcium" in one side of the breast and there is a need to have a small operation and extract out the calcium for futher test. (to test if it cancerous or not) All are done in 1 day. It is fast and efficient (but pain). Haha.
Less then 2 weeks, reports are out and she went back to get her report from the doctor. (Already think of the worst) Doctor gave her a good and bad answer. Good answer is that result reflected that the calcium that was found is not cancerous but to play safe, it got to be remove. (Just in case it mutated and become cancerous, only God knows)
Operation is then fix 2weeks later after obtaining the reports. It is to remove the calcium and the cells surrounding it. Let's pray that the operation turns well.
Just a simple mammography (SGD50 or so) actually dectect calcium (microcalcification) and it actually saves one's life/breast. Though the waiting period is scary. You kept thinking that you are suffering from cancer everyday and media is always showing on breast cancer issue almost every 2 days. But once the report's out and the assurance from doctor, it is like sunshine after the rain.
So ladies, I urge you got pick up your phone and make a appointment with your nearby polyclinic/hospital/private clinic/where ever you prefer.
Early detection, Save lifes.
Wishing you, Pink of health =)
